Esther B evening bags are designed and made by Esther Burdett. Her work is inspired by the idea of transforming and reworking beautiful - perhaps forgotten - fragments of the past into new forms, to be treasured and enjoyed all over again.
With a long-standing passion for collecting, Esther carefully selects staple elements of couture such as fine antique and vintage silks, laces and other precious found objects. Whether it be 19th-century hand-worked lace, an exquisite piece of printed silk or a beautiful antique bag frame, each piece is chosen for its exquisite quality and intricate detail. She then uses these carefully selected items as inspiration for creations with renewed elegance.
Each Esther B creation is a one-off. The evening bags are individually designed and made using antique frames, rare printed antique and vintage silks and exquisite antique laces. Every piece of fabric is carefully selected for its quality, and is cut to maximise the beauty of the print or detailing. Some silks are hand-dyed and used for contrasting bag linings, ensuring that each finished piece is made using only the finest reclaimed components.
Esther lives and works in Leicestershire. Her work has been showcased nationally at leading exhibitions, art galleries and fashion shows and featured in national and international press including Tatler magazine.
She also offers a bespoke service, and all pieces are designed and handmade in England.
